Bob Marley Exhibition, Saatchi Gallery

Another month, another exhibition and more experiential time with Bob Marley.

Get Up Stand Up the musical is still going strong at the Lyric Theatre, and over at the Saatchi Gallery the gift that is Bob Marley just keeps on giving. 

Bob Marley One Love Experience has made its global debut, and ICYMI, post April 2022 when it comes to an end, it may be coming to a city near you.  Get your tickets while you can.

It’s a pretty special exhibition produced, curated, and brought to visitors that have been able to experience it from all over the world by the Marley family, Terrapin Station Entertainment, and Senbla.

I went with a friend and was running a bit late that day, so I had to catch up with her inside. Walking around the first part of the exhibition instantly made me connect back into my childhood in a way that I haven’t been able to outside of family bereavements that I’ve had over the past few years. My emotions were swimming with nice memories and also empathy towards some of the family members that came into my mind and heart in a way that I had disconnected from for a long while. 

Music can do that to you and so can pictures too. The combination of the two didn’t just make me feel something, it made me feel something that I had purposely disconnected from as a way of self-preservation without even realising it. That day I got to walk in love and art and a legacy that gives and tells us everything that we need, and it was beautiful to be immersed in that for a couple of hours.
